National Accreditation

Hospitals and skilled nursing facilities in Michigan are required to be accredited if they wish to operate. But it is different with ambulance services.

HVA has been nationally accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Ambulance Services (CAAS) since 1993, when we became one of the first accredited ambulance services in southeast Michigan. Today, we are one of only 180 accredited services in the United States.

This voluntary accreditation is an important achievement and measure of quality. It means that we have opened up our organization to outside experts to be externally judged against tough national standards.
